How well do police officers knows each other?

Big police departments are split into many different divisions/stations, which work in different buildings located around the city. You'd know lots of people in your own division, but definitely not every officer in the entire city! You'd probably know a few people from different divisions/cities/FBI/etc if you've worked with them before, or if you've transferred in the past.
