Why don't certain CDs work on my computer?

By that, I mean that the computer simply refuses to acknowledge that there's even a disk in the drive. So far, this has happened with a 40th Anniversary release of The Doors' album Strange Days, Joni Mitchell's album Court and Spark and Randy Newman's album Sail Away, but nothing else.
