Harrassment order questions?

I'm not to sure about Minnesota Law but I know in New York the person MUST be physically served. Think about it, do you read the newspaper legal notices everyday? Most people do not. If the Sheriff can not "find" the person to serve you may have a 2nd party serve them, i.e: your friend, family member etc . as long as they're not involved / named in the restraining order. Also, keep in mind the sheriff will probably only make a few half shot attempts at serving the person so I highly recommend having someone else serve the violator. Good luck!
